The National Coordination Body (NCB) has decided to allow citizens of 26 countries to enter Montenegro from June 1 without quarantine or self-isolation.
The countries were selected according to the following criterion: fewer than 25 active COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents. Thus, Montenegro will open its borders to tourists from Slovenia, Iceland, Croatia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Albania, Austria, Norway, Monaco, Kosovo, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Israel, North Macedonia, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Finland, and Estonia. Unfortunately, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine were not included in this list.
At the same time, air and sea traffic is permitted, and the previousmeasure regarding general aviationremains in force. The movement of goods for Montenegro’s needs, as well as the transit of goods, remains unhindered.
“Our citizens and foreigners with permanent or temporary residence in our country who enter Montenegro from countries where the confirmed rate of active coronavirus cases is above 25 per 100,000 residents are subject to self-isolation or quarantine for 14 days. For people whose PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 has returned a negative result for the new coronavirus, the self-isolation and quarantine measure is lifted after 14 days,” the NCB said.Public events, including weddings, funerals, and sports competitions, are allowed. However, up to 200 people may attend these events, whether outdoors or indoors. At the same time, maintaining a distance of at least two meters from one another remains mandatory. In addition, discos, clubs, bars, and children’s playrooms are allowed to operate in accordance with the instructions of the Institute of Public Health. Cinemas, theaters, and kindergartens will open soon. Also, from June 1, the Ministry of Internal Affairs offices in each region will begin operating in accordance with the established working hours. Permits for permanent and temporary residence and work for foreigners, which have expired, will remain validuntil July 1 of this year.
