The Legatum Prosperity Index is published annually by the British Legatum Institute. The study has been published since 2006. Its goal is to examine social well-being on a global scale.
Montenegro scores best in terms of safety (46th place), investment environment (49th), and governance (50th). In other categories, the country ranks lower: “Personal Freedom” (55th), “Social Capital” (73rd), “Economic Quality” (80th), “Health” (91st), and “Natural Environment” (105th).
Nevertheless, as local media note, Montenegro is gradually rising in the rankings. Last year it was in 51st place, and the year before that — 52nd.
The index is led by Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany, Luxembourg, and Iceland. Russia is in 74th place.
