The country has introduced quarantine measures: borders are closed to foreigners, mandatory self-isolation is in effect, and cafes, shopping centers, betting shops, etc. are closed.
To date, the highest number of infections and deaths has been recorded in China and Italy. No cases of coronavirus disease have been registered in Montenegroso far.The Ministry of Health of Montenegro has adopted a set of temporary measures based on the Law on the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases.The following temporary measures were adopted on March 15:1) a ban on entry for foreigners, except for foreigners with permanent or temporary residence. The movement of goods for Montenegro’s needs remains unhindered, but with special sanitary and hygiene control measures;
2) mandatory self-isolation for all Montenegrin citizens, as well as for foreigners who permanently or temporarily reside in Montenegro;
3) a ban on providing food and beverage services in hotels, except for registered guests;
4) closure of discos/bars and nightclubs;
5) closure of catering establishments — coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars. Exception: businesses that provide food delivery;
6) a ban on providing shopping and catering services in shopping centers;
7) closure of children’s playrooms;
8) closure of fitness centers;
9) closure of casinos, bookmakers, and slot machines;
10) limits on the number of customers: only one consumer may be present per ten square meters of retail space. However, no more than 50 consumers in the total area of the premises. Exception for markets: no more than 100 consumers in the total area;
11) the obligation of responsible persons in retail establishments to ensure that their employees comply with the health protection measures prescribed by the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro;
12) the obligation of responsible persons to display information at the entrance to the retail establishment about the maximum number of people who may be in the same facility at the same time, and to organize compliance with this rule.
The adopted measures are temporary and remain in force for15 days.MeanwhileMontenegro remains the only country in Europewhere not a single case of coronavirus infection has been officially recorded.
