Since July 15 last year, when the deadline for submitting applications for the legalization of real estate properties expired, approval has been granted to owners of only 643 properties (1.2%).
Applications are reviewed at the local level. Legalization has been denied for about 3,800 properties due to their noncompliance with land-use plans and unresolved land issues. The authors of 24,000 applications submitted incomplete project documentation.
All requests have been processed in Kotor, Kolašin, Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, and Petnjica, the Montenegrin Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism said. Legalization has brought in 1.14 million euros. The leaders in fee collection are Bijelo Polje, Budva, Nikšić, and Tivat.
After the legalization deadline, around 2,400 more applications were submitted. They are to be rejected by the local authorities, the ministry emphasized.
It is possible that the authorities will provide another opportunity to legalize their real estate properties. A decision will be made next year.
