Since July 15 last year, when the deadline for submitting applications for the legalization of real estate properties expired, only 643 properties have been approved for owners (1.2%).
Applications are reviewed at the local level. Around 3,800 properties were denied legalization because they did not comply with spatial plans and due to unresolved land issues. The authors of 24,000 applications submitted incomplete project documentation.
All requests have been processed in Kotor, Kolašin, Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, and Petnjica, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro said. Legalization has brought in 1.14 million euros. The leaders in fee collection are Bijelo Polje, Budva, Nikšić, and Tivat.
After the legalization deadline expired, around 2,400 more applications were submitted. They are to be rejected by local authorities, the ministry emphasized.
It is possible that the authorities will provide another opportunity to legalize their real estate properties. The decision will be made next year.
