The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has improved its forecast for Montenegro’s economy. According to its new projections, the country’s economy is expected to strengthen by 9% in 2021. In October 2020, the IMF forecast gross domestic product (GDP) growth at 5.5%.
In the new April issue of the IMF’s Global Economic Outlook, reviewed by the Mina-business agency, it says that GDP should grow by 5.5% in 2022. In the report, IMF experts estimate Montenegro’s economic growth in 2026 at 3%. GDP fell by 15.2% in 2020.
The IMF also forecasts GDP growth this year in other countries in the region. GDP growth is projected at 5% for Serbia and Albania, 4.7% for Croatia, 4.5% for Kosovo, 3.8% for North Macedonia, and 3.5% for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
The IMF has also raised its estimate for global economic growth this year to 6%, up from its January forecast of 5.5%.
