Montenegro may receive new direct flights from Wizz Air to popular destinations across Europe — this became known after talks between the Ministry of Transport and Airports of Montenegro with representatives of Wizz Air, one of Europe’s largest low-cost airlines.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the main topic of the meeting was the possibility of opening additional routes from Montenegrin airports, primarily from Podgorica and Tivat. This would strengthen Montenegro’s international accessibility for both tourists and business travelers.
High-level talks
The meeting was attended by Transport Minister Maja Vukićević and Airports of Montenegro CEO Roko Tolić. They discussed a range of practical steps with Wizz Air’s top management aimed at expanding cooperation.
Among the priorities are increasing the number of flights, improving the frequency of existing routes, and possibly opening new destinations in Europe’s tourist and business markets.
Why this matters
Wizz Airalready operates flightsfrom Montenegro to cities such as Budapest, Warsaw, Vienna, and Memmingen. A potential expansion of the route network could include new capitals and major tourist cities, strengthening Montenegro’s position on the international tourism market.
Additional flights, especially during the peak tourist season, would increase hotel occupancy, simplify logistics for investors, and make the country more attractive to digital nomads and expats.
Forecasts for the near future
While no specific routes or dates have been announced yet, according toVijesti, the parties are considering the summer season of 2026 as a possible start for new destinations. Talks are ongoing, and Montenegro hopes to conclude agreements with Wizz Air soon.
