Former President of Montenegro and Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Momir Bulatović has died at the age of 63. He passed away from a heart attack in the village of Raći, near Podgorica. The funeral will also take place here on July 2.

Momir Bulatović was born on September 21, 1956, in Belgrade and studied at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Montenegro. In the late 1980s, he began working in youth organizations and later joined the struggle against the leadership of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia. In addition, he advocated for the protection of the Serb population in Kosovo, RBC reports.
In 1989, he was elected chairman of the presidency of the League of Communists of Montenegro, and a year later he won the first multiparty elections and became Montenegro’s first president; he held this post until 1998.
