The expressway will run along the Adriatic-Ionian corridor through Montenegro and Albania. According to preliminary results, the average estimated cost of implementing the highway project along Montenegro’s coast is about 13.2 million euros per kilometer. This wasreportedby the Ministry of Capital Investments. Given that the road is expected to be about 110 km long, based on these preliminary data, it could cost around 1.45 billion euros.
The Ministry says thatthe expressway projectalong Montenegro’s coast should primarily relieve the city center and redirect traffic flows to bypass roads around some coastal towns.
The ministry adds that the government’s preliminary decision is to seek implementation models that would not involve new direct borrowing for the total amount of the required funds.
