The Church of Saint Leopold is a small Catholic church in the city of Herceg Novi. It was built in 1688 by decree of Jeronim Corner; that same year, the city was liberated from the Turks and conquered by Venice. The church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was erected on the foundation of a destroyed Turkish mosque. However, it was later dedicated to Saint Francis, and since 1976 — to Saint Leopold Mandić, who was born in Herceg Novi and canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1983.
The cost of the reconstruction project is 81,675 euros, which includes the renovation of the roof and interior walls. In addition, the doors and windows were restored. The work was carried out under the supervision of the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Properties.
