The owner of the Aman luxury hotel chain, Vladislav Doronin, is creating a new hotel brand — Janu. The first three Janu hotels (“soul” in Sanskrit) will open in 2022 in Tokyo and Montenegro, where Aman hotels already exist, as well as in Saudi Arabia. According toVedomosti, the developer of the hotels in Montenegro and Saudi Arabia will be the Royal Commission for AlUla.
According to Aman’s Director of Global Communications, Harriet Rawlinson, Janu hotels will also be positioned in the premium segment and aimed at wealthy travelers. However, accommodation at Janu will be cheaper than at Aman.
The creators of the new brand believe that one of the most valuable things travel can offer is meeting new people. But people are becoming increasingly lonely, too dependent on the digital world, and losing their social skills. Janu hotels are intended to bring back the joy of meeting and communicating with others.
Aman’s Chief Operating Officer, Roland Fasel, hopes that Janu will attract a younger and more energetic audience. The number of rooms at Aman does not exceed 50, and in some hotels there are only 20. Janu will have up to 120 rooms.
