Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare (IFSS)announcedthat one of the leading experts in the blockchain industry, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, has been granted Montenegrin citizenship.
“Buterin obtained Montenegrin citizenship by naturalization on the proposal of Montenegro’s Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić and following the initiative of the Minister of Finance and Social Welfare, Milojko Spajić, and the opinion of this department. Recognizing the importance of this initiative, the Minister of the Interior (MUP), Sergej Sekulović, made the decision to admit Vitalik Buterin to Montenegrin citizenship on the proposal of the Prime Minister, and today he was handed a Montenegrin passport,” the IFSS said in a statement.
This government department said that “a group of world experts in this field visited Montenegro at the invitation of Minister Spajić, and cooperation with them is of particular importance for supporting the development of Montenegro’s economy, attracting investments, and creating highly paid jobs in this industry.” It added that Buterin’s citizenship was granted in accordance with Article 12 of the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship.

“Vitalik Buterin, as the most recognizable name in this industry and the founder of Ethereum, will contribute to further promoting Montenegro and the overall development of thecrypto industryin our country.
