An analysis of operations in Montenegro’s banking sector showed that, at the end of 2021, the top fivebanks in the countryaccounted for almost 75% of all sector assets. The total amount of net loans of 11 banks at the end of last year reached a record 2.88 billion euros, almost 74 million euros higher than at the end of 2020. The overall level of lending in the banking system increased by more than 1 billion euros over 10 years.
Banks generated a net annual profit of 148 million euros from interest and almost 38 million euros from fees. The banking sector’s profit at the end of 2021 amounted to more than 36 million euros, and the annual figure was 63% higher than in 2020, according to the portalBankar.me.
