Montenegro may receive around 500 million euros from the funds allocated by the EU for the investment plan for the Western Balkans.
Montenegro can expect to receive about five percent of the funds, grants and concessional loans worth nine billion euros from the European Commission’s (EC) investment program for the Western Balkans, which amounts to around 450–500 million euros, but everything depends on the quality of the proposed projects.
At the same time, the European Union will require that the projects be necessary, cost-effective, sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Over the past ten years, since the EU investment system has existed, Montenegro has received around 410 million euros out of roughly 7.5 billion euros in grants and concessional loans distributed to countries in the region.
The value of the projects for which Montenegro has so far applied independently or together with one or more neighboring countries is around 1.7 billion euros.
