Montenegro supported the EU declaration on the forced diversion of the airlineRyanair. This was reported by the Montenegrin news agencyRTCG.
This declaration was adopted on May 24, when the Belarusian authorities landed a Ryanair plane in Minsk on the pretext that a bomb had been found on board. After that, law enforcement officers detained one of the founders of the Telegram channel Nexta (recognized as extremist in Belarus), Roman Protasevich.
The EU declaration states that this act is yet another blatant attempt by the Belarusian authorities to suppress the opposition. The EU calls for the immediate release of Protasevich and an international investigation into the incident.
