The EU has provided Montenegro with financial support of €40.2 million for the development of railway infrastructure. Half of this amount will be provided in the form of grants, while the remaining funds will be provided in the form of loans from the European Investment Bank. This was reported by the EU Council on the development of the investment framework for the countries of the Western Balkans.
EU funds allocated under the Western Balkans Investment Programme include a grant of €22 million, which was provided for the preparation and implementation of new infrastructure projects, of which €20.1 million will be invested in the reconstruction of the Bar–Vrbnica railway line.
