The Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare of Montenegro approved the sending of financial aid to Ukraine and proposed that the government consider the issue of receiving and temporarily accommodating displaced persons from Ukraine,saidState Secretary Janko Odović.
The document of the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare states that Montenegro expresses solidarity with the people of Ukraine and, as a responsible member of the international community, in accordance with the Law on International Development Cooperation and International Humanitarian Assistance, offers 50,000 euros in humanitarian aid.
“In addition to the above, the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare proposes that the government consider the possibility of supporting Ukraine through the accommodation and temporary housing of displaced persons,” the document says.
Let us recall that due to Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, Montenegrojoinedall restrictive measures, including eight packages of individual and economic sanctions adopted by the European Union against Russia, the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
EU financial sanctions target key state-owned companies, especially in the defense sector, as well as about 70% of the Russian banking market, in order to completely restrict Russia’s access to major capital markets and significantly limit the flow of financial resources from Russia to the EU. Energy sanctions include a ban on the sale, purchase, transfer, or export to Russia of specific goods and technologies intended for the processing (refining) of oil, as well as the provision of related services, depriving Russia of the ability to modernize its refineries to new standards, the statement said.
