EU countries are recommended to introduce coronavirus pandemic-related entry restrictions for citizens of six countries, including the United States. This wasreportedon the EU Council website.
In addition to the United States, Israel, Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro and North Macedonia were removed from the list of countries for whose residents the EU Council considersentry restrictionsunnecessary. This is due to the worsening epidemiological situation in these territories.
The restrictions do not apply to those vaccinated against coronavirus
The EU Council’s recommendations are not binding. Germany and a number of other EU members had earlier included the United States, among others, on the list of high-risk countries. Those entering Germany from such countries must spend 5 to 10 days in quarantine if they do not provide a vaccination certificate or proof of recovery. The White House also noted that the EU decision will not affect those vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2.
According to Worldometer, there are currently more than 8.2 million active coronavirus cases in the United States. Nearly 53,000 people were infected there over the past day, and 313 died. In Germany, there are 122,000 active cases, 6,805 new infections over the past 24 hours, and 28 deaths in the last 24 hours.
