The case concerning the abolition of the non-working Sunday, which has applied to retail and wholesale trade since October 20 last year, is still under consideration by the Constitutional Court.
The initiative to remove this provision from the Law on Domestic Trade was submitted to the court of highest instance by the Employers’ Union in September last year.
Over the course of the year, market inspectors identified 15 violations of the law. The total amount of fines imposed is 13,500 euros. According to employees of the Inspection Affairs Administration, all of them have been collected.
The fine for a legal entity is 1,000 euros, while for an entrepreneur it is 300 euros.
Inspectors found the highest number of violations in Budva — five cases. The total amount of fines was 5,100 euros. Nikšić received two fines totaling 2,400 euros. Podgorica — two fines amounting to 1,500 euros.
Inspectors in Ulcinj, Danilovgrad, and Kotor imposed fines of 1,200 euros in each municipality. Shops in Berane, Tuzi, and Herceg Novi were fined 300 euros each.
“Most violations were found in markets and in stores selling discounted beverages,” the administration noted.
They emphasized that they continue to monitor the operation of shops to this day.
