International retail chainLidlhas so far purchased three major locations in Montenegro for its future megastores. However, the company is still not saying anything about its plans in Montenegro or when Lidl stores might begin operations.
“Lidl is constantly exploring opportunities to expand its business. From a retail perspective, Montenegro is a market where consumers want the model offered by Lidl, which provides high-quality products at the best prices. Because of this, Lidl is currently investing in possible locations for stores and logistics centers in Montenegro,” the company said in response to a question fromVijestiabout its current investments and expansion plans in Montenegro.
Company representatives noted that they are currently unable to disclose details of their plans, locations, or the potential opening date.
“At Lidl, we value and appreciate transparent and timely communication, and we are confident that we will inform our employees and stakeholders about the next steps in due course,” the company said.
According to cadastral data, Lidl Montenegro, whose founder is WE - International Zweite from Stuttgart, owns two offices in Podgorica and one in Nikšić. In the capital, they bought a municipal plot of about 14,000 square meters near the building of Radio and Television of Montenegro, where the company Bolići had previously announced the construction of a hotel and where a huge pit was dug back in 2012.
According to data from municipal documents, last year the city budget earned about 10.8 million euros from the sale of this site. They bought a plot of about 13,000 square meters from the bankruptcy administration of “Radoj Dakić,” for which they offered around four million euros.
The plot is located on the site of the former factory, next to the road to Nikšić, opposite the current Franca market. According to the same documents, they bought the former administrative building of the bauxite mine in Nikšić, as well as the plot around and behind it, covering about eight thousand square meters.
The site is located on 13 July Boulevard, opposite the large HDL Laković megamarket. It is unknown how much they paid for the plot, as well as whether they bought it directly from the Bauxite bankruptcy administration or from a reseller.
