The Ambassador of Slovenia to Montenegro, Gregor Presher, confirmedthat one of the priorities of Slovenia’s presidency of the European Union (EU) is the integration of the Western Balkans region with the EU and, consequently, with Montenegro.
According to him, it is important to carry out reforms now, and not only for the sake ofjoining the European Union in 2024, but also for the well-being of all citizens.
And, apparently, if official Brussels ignores this space, the door opens to third parties.
“Not only did your president emphasize this, but representatives of the Slovenian authorities also noted that this is one segment that everyone understands on all sides, and therefore we are even more attentive and cautious, and we want the Western Balkans, Montenegro, to enter the EU as soon as possible. Of course, on the one hand, this is a political and geostrategic process, and on the other — a technocratic process that requires the fulfillment of certain conditions so that the states receive approval for EU membership as soon as possible,” Presker said.
