Prime Minister of MontenegroDritan Abazovićdiscussed with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman the possibility of Saudi investments in energy and tourism in the Western Balkans.
As reported by the portalInvestor.me, Abazović and Salman met in the Greek capital, Athens, where the Saudi prince was on an official visit. The meeting was attended by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and Italian Senator Matteo Renzi.
According to the newspaper Podgorica daily, they discussed investments in the Western Balkans in the fields of energy and tourism. Crown Prince Salman is one of the most powerful leaders in the world. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia already has certain agreements with Greece, and the Western Balkans are becoming one of the geostrategically important places in Europe.
Prince Salman’s visit to Athens took place less than two weeks after US President Joe Biden’s visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Bin Salman arrived in Athens with a delegation of 700 people on seven planes. One was allegedly equipped as a hospital. In a report detailing the crown prince’s tastes and excesses, the Greek news portal Iefimerida reported that the mission requested 350 limousines. Demand so far exceeded supply that cars had to be brought in from Bulgaria and Germany.
For his stay at the Four Seasons hotel on the Athens Riviera, 180 suitcases with clothing, shoes, and other personal belongings were sent.
“Several days ago, a special order was placed for bulletproof glass, which was installed with the help of a giant crane in the room that hosted bin Salman,” Iefimerida reported on Wednesday.
