The American Embassy in Podgorica has begun construction of a new embassy complex worth $296 million, which is expected to be completed in 2025. This was announcedon September 20 during the presentation of this project, which is currently the largest American investment in Montenegro.
“As friends, partners and allies, the construction of the new American Embassy complex demonstrates the strength and importance of our bilateral relations,” said the U.S. ambassadorto Montenegro, Judy Rising Reinke, at the project presentation. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ljubomir Mišurović, described the new embassy building as further confirmation of the strategic presence of NATO’s strongest ally in Montenegro, recalling the First Economic Dialogue between Montenegro and the United States, held on September 16, “as an additional boost to joint economic cooperation and the generally good dynamics of bilateral relations.”
Podgorica Mayor Ivan Vuković recalled that the first diplomatic relations between Montenegro and the United States were established in 1905, and since then, in his view, the two countries have been and remain sincere friends.
