The Chinese company CRBC will not have to pay a penalty for failing to meet the construction deadlines for the Smokovac-Mateševo motorway section if the engineer determines that the contractor’s claims are justified due to force majeure — the coronavirus pandemic.
The deadline for completing all works on the motorway expired on September 30, but a new annex to the contract has not yet been signed. The supervisory body of the French-Italian consortium Ingerop Geodata must decide on CRBC’s requests for an extension.
Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurković and Monteput CEO Jonuš Mujević visited this road section to check the level of implementation and the quality of the works. They stated that the works are 90% complete.
