Director of the Institute of Public Health, Igor Galich, saidthat over the next 14 days, from July 29 to August 12, a mask mandate will be in effect. The new measures include mandatory mask-wearing in all state administration institutions and public facilities: shops, pharmacies, gas stations, etc.
Previously, mask-wearing was recommended in airports and in railway and bus station buildings. Now it is a mandatory requirement.
The authorities introduced these measures due to a sharp increase in coronavirus infections. In one day, 944 new cases were detected. At the moment, there are 6,398 active cases in the country.
If the above measures do not lead to an improvement in the epidemiological situation in the coming period and the upward trend in morbidity and mortality rates continues, with an increase in requests for hospitalization, Galich warns that mandatory wearing of protective masks will be required in all indoor spaces.
The virus is more contagious, but with milder symptoms and a milder clinical picture. Nevertheless, the Director of the Institute of Public Health urges citizensto get vaccinatedand revaccinated. According to him, of the total number of people who died from the pandemic, 72 percent were not vaccinated.
