Exploratory drilling on the Montenegrin shelf has shown that the geological forecasts made through the interpretation of seismic data are accurate, the Ministry of Capital Investments of Montenegro said.
According to the ministry, drilling will continue for another five months.
“Drilling is proceeding according to the plan and program. Control drilling is being carried out to clean the wellbore, as well as detailed logging to obtain important data on the reservoir. At present, drilling of the borehole for the installation of the second casing string is underway,” the ministry clarified.
The Topaz Driller platform, which arrived in Montenegro from Malta, began drilling the seabed on March 25.
The Ministry of Capital Investments said that Montenegro will know in five months, or more precisely by the end of August, whether there are significant hydrocarbon reserves.
