According to the Montenegrin statistical officeMonstat, the number of companies and entrepreneurs in Montenegro in 2021 amounted to 39,682, which, compared to 2020, when there were 37,255, represents an increase of 6.5% in percentage terms.
The largest number of active entrepreneurs in 2021 is inPodgorica— 14,145, which accounts for 35.6% of the total, while the smallest is in the municipality of Petnica - 31, or 0.1% of the total.
By ownership structure, more than 99% of the total number of business entities in Montenegro are privately owned. The same situation was recorded in 2020 as well.
In Montenegro, small enterprises are the most represented, accounting for more than 99% of the total number of active enterprises.
