According to the latest data from Montenegro’s Cadastre and State Property Administration, more than 23,000 foreigners own real estate in the country, reports the portalInvestitor.
The total inflow of directforeign investment(FDI) from January through the end of July this year amounted to EUR 653.47 million, which is 44.5% more than in the same period last year, according to preliminary data from the Central Bank of Montenegro.
More than half of all foreign investment is directed toward real estate purchases. The main buyers remain citizens of Serbia and Russia. Rounding out the top five countries by invested capital are the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, and Germany.
Real estate investment amounted to EUR 238.03 million, which is even 100.25% higher than in the same period of 2021.
Recall that since March 2022, rental prices in Montenegro have risen significantly, as a large number of citizens from Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus have moved to the country.
