The European Commission announced the allocation of€3.2 billionfor the implementation of 21 projects in the Western Balkan countries. This was reported by the Albanian news agencyTelegrafi.
According to journalists, the funds will be allocated for the construction of transport infrastructure, digitalization, combating climate change, and supporting energy infrastructure.
This is the first package of projects being implemented under the EU investment plan, approved back in October 2020. The funds are expected to be provided in the form of grants, concessional loans, and guarantees. The plan’s objective was described as reducing the gap in living standards between the EU and the Western Balkans — in Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
