Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanismhas begun preparing a new draft law on spatial planning and construction, which means that amendments will be made to the decree on the legalization of illegally built structures.
The legalization processof illegally built structures is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the current legislation.
The Ministry also states that a significant number of structures were not built in accordance with the parameters and/or guidelines of the project documentation, while for some areas the plan has not yet been adopted or is no longer valid, so the legalization process had to be suspended until the relevant planning document is adopted.
“Taking into account the overall situation, significant progress has been made in this regard, especially considering the number of submitted and processed requests,” they state.
According to official data, 52,303 legalization requests were submitted in December last year, 45,000 were processed, and a total of 1,185 structures were legalized. This year the process has practically come to a halt: 697 requests were submitted, 2,000 were processed, and finally 615 structures were legalized. This shows that the proposals of the Association of Municipalities of Montenegro were justified, as its representatives were the ones who advocated amendments to this law.
