Reconstruction has begun in Nikšić of the summer residence of the last Montenegrin king, Nikola I Petrović. Restoring the building, constructed in 1900, will cost 1.2 million euros.
The works will be completed by August 2021 and include the reconstruction of the attic space, walls, ceilings, and floors, as well as the restoration of the stone access roads. Special attention will be paid to the heating and cooling system, which ensures the preservation of the museum exhibits.
The summer residence in Nikšić was built in honor of the 40th anniversary of Prince Nikola’s reign and was designed by Croatian architect Josip Slade. His portfolio includes numerous works, including the urban plan for the new city of Nikšić and the Tsar’s Bridge over the Zeta River.
