As stated in the announcement by Montenegro’s central bank, the draft law is necessary to regulate the crypto-asset sector, that is, to provide a legal and regulatory framework for activities related to this type of asset.
The work on the draft law will be overseen by Montenegro’s central bank and World Bank experts.
At present, the circulation of cryptocurrencies in Montenegro remains in a “gray zone,” and transactions are actively carried out but are not regulated in any way.
