On the occasion of the approaching New Year holiday and the religious holidayof Christmasfor believers of the Roman Catholic and Orthodox confessions, the non-working days will be December 24, 25 and 26, then January 1 and 3, as well as January 6, 7 and 8,theMontenegrin Ministry of Economic Development said.
According to the law on the observance of religious holidays, Catholics are entitled to paid leave for Christmas and Christmas Eve: Friday, December 24, Saturday, December 25, and Sunday, December 26.
New Year is celebrated on Saturday, January 1, and Sunday, January 2. Since the second day off is Sunday, the first non-working day will be the following day, which means the second non-working day will be Monday, January 3.
Orthodox believers are entitled to paid leave for Christmas and Christmas Eve: Thursday, January 6 (Christmas Eve), Friday, January 7 (the first day of Christmas), and Saturday, January 8 (the second day of Christmas).
“State authorities, local self-government bodies, public institutions, public companies and other entities engaged in activities of public interest are obliged to ensure that on holidays those activities whose interruption could have harmful consequences for citizens or the state continue to operate,” the ministry said.
