As Pobjeda daily writes, the situation with the epidemiological situation in Montenegro and timely immunization will most likely have a negative impact on tourism and the 2021 summer season.
The tourism industry around the world is gradually waking up, but tourists are canceling trips to Montenegro because of the high number of infections and delays in vaccination.
Destinations around the world are already preparing, and potential tourists should be informed in a timely manner about how they can spend their holiday in our country. One example of best practice is Cyprus, where the conditions for arrivals in the upcoming summer tourist season have already been defined.
The president of the Council of Tourism and Hospitality Associations at the Chamber of Commerce, Ranko Jovović, stated that delays in the delivery of the coronavirus vaccine are causing a sense of insecurity among tourists and affecting their perception of Montenegro as a safe and responsible tourist destination.
The director of EastWest Voyage Montenegro, Zorka Rajčević, believes that, unfortunately, everything in Montenegro is too politicized and everything except politics is being ignored.
“People around the world are getting vaccinated, while Montenegro still knows nothing about Covid vaccines. We do not know whether we will get them, when that will happen, which ones we will get, let alone the vaccination rollout strategy…”
The general manager of Hilton, Nemanja Nikolić, also believes that the vaccination program should start as soon as possible, as we can still restore the image of a safe destination, bearing in mind that we are a small country.
“Delayed vaccination is already affecting tourism trends in Montenegro. Accelerating vaccination is the best support the government can give to the economy and tourism,” she noted.
According to the general manager of Ramada Hotel, Ivana Žurović, if we do not start vaccination soon, the summer season will suffer greatly, as we will not be a safe destination for tourists from Europe.
