Winter tourist seasonwill traditionally begin in mid-December, while, by default, the highest visitor numbers are expected during the New Year holidays and throughout January, but everything depends on snowfall, saidthe chairman of the Board of the Tourism and Hospitality Association, Ranko Jovović.
Thus, according to him, tourists will be able to plan their winter holiday and spend it in Montenegro. Montenegro’s ski resorts still depend on snowfall this season, and they do not have an alternative in the form of snow generators (snow cannons).
Winter tourist season: hotel package offers
“A more active role by the state is needed in encouraging winter tourism, as investments in winter centers and infrastructure are enormous,” Jovović believes.
“One of the incentives is the introduction of mandatory ski school for students during the winter period. In this way, a positive effect will be achieved both for domestic tourism and for the health and development of children,” Jovović states.
He notes that the tourism economy in the north has invested heavily in preparations for the winter season, which has led to increased interest from tourists. He also points out that this year’s promotion of the winter season is being carried out through a digital marketing campaign and participation in trade fairs.
As for the main winter centers of Žabljak and Kolašin, Jovović believes that, in terms of price-to-quality ratio, the offer is competitive in the region, and hoteliers and restaurateurs have prepared a number of attractive price offers, especially during the New Year holidays.
“It is planned to open all hotels in Žabljak, as well as to create package offers with ski resorts. For Kolašin, a major drawback is that the Four Points by Sheraton hotel will not be open this year or in the upcoming winter season. Other hotels in Kolašin, as well as private hotels, have already prepared certain package offers for the holidays and the winter season. Work is underway in Kolašin to improve the offer and raise the quality of private accommodation, and seven new hotels are in the development and construction phase,” Jovović emphasizes.
