The Government of Montenegro stated that 24,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Montenegro under the Covax vaccine exchange scheme.
“The vaccines were purchased under the Covax scheme and were approved by the World Health Organization, which is the leading organization in the United Nations system on vaccine issues,” the government wrote on Twitter.
Recall that earlier Montenegro received the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, as well as the Chinese Sinopharm.
In addition, the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, held a telephone conversation with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on March 27.
On his Facebook page, the politician said that the head of the European Commission stated that in April the European Union will allocate 651,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine to the countries of the Western Balkans. The population of the six countries in the region — Kosovo, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia — is approximately 18 million people.
As of today, in Montenegro more than 18,000 have been vaccinated with one dose and more than 2,500 with two doses. The number of new cases over the past 24 hours was 335. 460 people have recovered.
