Minister of Public Administration Marash Dukaj signed in Brussels the agreement between the EU and Montenegro on our country's participation in the Digital Europe program (“Digital Europe”) for the 2021-2027 period.
Minister Dukaj noted that the signing of the Agreement between the European Union and Montenegro and Montenegro's accession to the Digital Europe program is an important milestone and an important step on our path to a digital future and European values. He emphasized that, with the support of partners from the European Union, Montenegro will accelerate the development of digital transformation, improve e-services, improve methods of preventing cyberattacks, and promote digital education in order to equip citizens and the economy with modern technologies.
Joining the Digital Europe program, as the minister noted, gives Montenegro numerous benefits.
“Through investments, the exchange of knowledge and experience with EU members, we strengthen international cooperation and the digital economy, encourage innovation and competitiveness,” Dukaj said.
In this process, as he emphasized, the citizens of Montenegro play a key role. “Government institutions, the digital and innovation community, as well as the academic and business communities, research centers and the civil sector will be able to receive direct benefits,” Dukaj said.
The Digital Europe program opens the door for Montenegro to participate, in cooperation with partners from across the EU, in projects funded under the program, use solutions developed within the program, and keep pace with EU priorities in the field of digital technologies. The total cost of this seven-year program is estimated at 7.5 billion euros.
