The National Coordination Body (NCB) for Infectious Diseases has decided to introduce new restrictive measures in each municipality depending on the epidemiological situation. The new measures will come into force on Monday (28.09).

The basis will be the number of infected people per 100,000 inhabitants. Current figures by municipality:

Restrictive measures depending on the number of infected cases over the past 14 days:

Below 400: No changes. However, strict adherence to protocols and strict monitoring of compliance with the current epidemiological measures will continue.

Between 400 and 799: 22:00 – closing time for establishments. A maximum of two people may sit at one table (indoors and on the terrace). Chairs must be at least one meter apart from each other.

Between 800 and 1,199: Restaurants and cafes, including hotel establishments, are prohibited from operating. Only members of one family are allowed inside a residential unit.

Above 1,200: People will be prohibited from leaving their residential units from 22:00 to 5:00 (with some exceptions). Citizens who care for wheelchair users, as well as persons who are unable to carry out everyday activities independently due to illness (must be confirmed by a certificate), and pets, are allowed to be outside for no more than 60 minutes per day.

At the same time, the ban on the operation of restaurants and cafes, including hotel establishments, remains in force. Only members of one family are allowed inside a residential unit.

The decision to ease restrictions is made automatically every 14 days, depending on the values of the infection indicators.

According to current data, the strictest restrictions will apply in Nikšić, Berane, and Andrijevica, starting on Monday.

Start of the school year

Analyzing the epidemiological situation and the conditions for the start of the school year, the NCB instructed the Ministry of Education to review and establish all relevant parameters by Monday and to inform the public about all aspects of the start of the school year.

In order to contain the spread of the virus among schoolchildren and students, the NCB decided to change the rules regarding mask wearing. This means that children older than 5 will also be required to wear a face mask.

The NCB also proposed that the Ministry of Health make a decision on compensation for medical staff working with COVID-19 patients.
