Yesterday, the Director of the Institute of Public Health, Igor Galić, spoke at a press conference. He announced new quarantine measures that come into force on February 11 and will be in effect for the next 15 days.
The new quarantine measures that apply throughout the country:
- Restaurants, cafes, and shops are open from 7:00 to 18:00.
- Curfew from 21:00 to 5:00. Exception: walking pets, but for no more than 60 minutes a day.
- Intercity travel is prohibited on weekends.
- Excursions, live music performances, and the operation of children's playrooms are prohibited.
New quarantine measures for Budva and Tivat:
- The operation of restaurants, cafes, shopping centers, non-food stores, hair salons, gyms, and hotels is prohibited.
- It is prohibited to go to the beach and walk in parks, squares, and so on.
- Kindergartens and schools are switching to online learning.
- Gatherings outdoors and indoors are prohibited.
- Children's playgrounds and outdoor gyms are closed.
- Ban on intercity travel, including weekdays and weekends.
Police will carry out enhanced checks on mask-wearing outdoors.
New rules for entry into Montenegro
A mandatory PCR test no older than 72 hours is required for entry from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Israel, India, Bahrain, Lebanon, South Africa, Brazil, the USA, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Malta, France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, and the Czech Republic.
For entry from other countries a PCR test is not required.
Igor Galić also noted that the epidemiological situation in Montenegro is serious.
“We have a trend of increasing numbers of patients. At the moment, we have just over 8,000 active cases. Worldwide, a large number of active coronavirus cases have been registered. Ahead of New Year and Christmas, we did not detect active growth in new cases. However, recently we have been observing an increase in infections, which places Montenegro at a high level among all countries in the world.”
Health Minister Jelena Borovinić Bojović stated that the same epidemiological measures as in Budva and Tivat will be introduced in all other municipalities that reach the rate of 2,000 cases per 100,000 residents.
Number of cases in the last 24 hours
The laboratory of the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, as well as other public and private laboratories diagnosing COVID-19, analyzed 1,850 samples. Of these, 577 new coronavirus infections were detected in the last 24 hours. Another 10 people died from COVID-19.
According to the Institute of Public Health, of the 10 people who died from COVID-19, the oldest was 90 years old and the youngest was 52.
It is noted that the total number of confirmed infections in Montenegro currently stands at 66,234, and the number of deaths from COVID-19 has reached 852.
