Reconstruction has begun in Nikšić of the summer residence of the last Montenegrin king, Nikola I Petrović. Restoration of the building, constructed in 1900, will cost 1.2 million euros.

The work will be completed by August 2021 and includes the reconstruction of the attic space, walls, ceilings, and floors, as well as the restoration of the stone access roads. Special attention will be paid to the heating and cooling system, which ensures the preservation of the museum exhibits.

The summer residence in Nikšić was built in honor of the fortieth anniversary of Prince Nikola's reign; it was designed by Croatian architect Josip Slade. His portfolio includes numerous works, including the urban plan for the new city of Nikšić and the royal bridge over the Zeta River.
