Winter tourist season will traditionally begin in mid-December, while by default the highest attendance is expected during the New Year holidays and throughout January, but everything depends on snowfall, said the chairman of the Board of the Tourism and Hospitality Association, Ranko Jovović.

Thus, according to him, tourists will be able to plan their winter holiday and spend it in Montenegro. Montenegro’s ski resorts are still dependent on snowfall this season, and they do not have an alternative in the form of snow generators (snow cannons).

Winter tourist season: hotel package offers

“A more active role of the state is needed in promoting winter tourism, since investments in winter centers and infrastructure are enormous,” Jovović believes.

“One of the incentives is the introduction of mandatory ski school for students during the winter period. In this way, a positive effect will be achieved both for domestic tourism and for the health and development of children,” Jovović states.

He notes that the tourism economy of the north has invested heavily in preparing for the winter season, which has led to increased interest from tourists. And he points out that the promotion of the winter season this year is being carried out through a digital marketing campaign and participation in fairs.

As for the main winter centers of Žabljak and Kolašin, Jovović believes that in terms of price-quality ratio the offer is competitive in the region, and hoteliers and restaurateurs have prepared a number of attractive price offers, especially during the New Year holidays.

“It is planned to open all hotels in Žabljak, as well as create package offers with ski resorts. For Kolašin, a major drawback is that the Four Points by Sheraton hotel will not be open this year and in the upcoming winter season. Other hotels in Kolašin, as well as private hotels, have already prepared certain package offers for the holidays and the winter season. Work is underway in Kolašin to improve the offer and raise the quality of private accommodation, and seven new hotels are in the development and construction phase,” Jovović emphasizes.
