The Environmental Protection Fund of Montenegro is offering citizens and companies three more subsidies of five thousand euros for the purchase of an electric car.

“Within the public call for the purchase of electric and hybrid vehicles, agreements on subsidies have so far been signed with 20 users for the purchase of hybrid vehicles, and an agreement on a grant for the purchase of electric vehicles has been signed with seven users,” the statement says.

Within this public call, published at the end of January this year, the Eco-Fund provided grants in the amount of 100 thousand euros.

“Of that amount, 50 thousand euros were allocated to subsidize the purchase of hybrids, and 50 thousand euros to subsidize the purchase of electric vehicles. The Eco-Fund subsidized the purchase of a hybrid vehicle in the amount of 2.5 thousand euros, while the subsidy for the purchase of an electric vehicle amounts to five thousand euros,” the Eco-Fund said.

Goals of the subsidy for the purchase of an electric car

The aim of the public call, it was added, is to directly encourage the acquisition of environmentally friendly transport as part of the implementation of measures to improve air quality and the environment.

“In order to preserve, rationally use, protect and improve the environment, increase energy efficiency and the use of renewable sources and energy, it is important to encourage the purchase of environmentally friendly vehicles.

“By co-financing the purchase of electric and hybrid vehicles, we will directly influence the improvement of air quality, as well as the reduction of sources of air pollution, that is, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in road traffic on the territory of Montenegro,” the statement says.

Individuals are entitled to a subsidy for the purchase of one car, while companies and entrepreneurs may buy no more than two.
