In the first nine months of this year, foreign individuals and foreign companies invested a total of 599.86 million euros in businesses in Montenegro, which is 93.07 million euros more than in the same period last year and 63.18 million euros less than for the whole of 2019.
In addition, new preliminary data from the Central Bank of Montenegro show that capital outflows from foreign investors amounted to 247.63 million euros, meaning that the current net amount of foreign direct investment is 352.23 million euros.
From the beginning of the year through the end of September, 118.6 million euros were invested in companies and banks, intercompany debt — that is, loans received by local companies from parent companies abroad — amounted to 231.23 million euros, and other investments totaled 65.77 million euros.
Upward trend: foreigners bought real estate in Montenegro for 184 million euros
However, special attention should be paid to the trend of investment growth in real estate: according to these data, foreigners spent as much as 184.26 million euros on it, which is already the highest annual amount since 2014.
