The first snow in the mountains of Montenegro delighted many, however, there are still no conditions for ski resorts to operate. On the other hand, winter sports enthusiasts are wondering how to ski in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

The managers of Montenegro’s ski resorts said that they are ready for the ski season, but there are special rules and procedures related to coronavirus to minimize the risk of infection. According to them, the only thing they need is more snow.

Kolašin 1600 Ski Resort

The director of the Kolašin 1600 ski resort, Saša Eknjić, noted that there is about 30 cm of snow at their resort.

“We are making every effort to prepare the slopes. In the next few days, depending on snowfall, we expect to open the winter tourist season,” he said.

The ski resort Kolašin 1600 will welcome its visitors with new slopes for intermediate and advanced skiers and rich entertainment content. The offer also includes 10.5 km of ski trails, a 6-seat cable car, a restaurant, a café, a ski school, ski rental, and a training area for beginners.

Durmitor Ski Resort

The director of the tourist center Durmitor Milutin Tomić said that snow has fallen, but there is still not enough of it to begin operations.

However, they are fully ready for the season – they have prepared low ski pass prices and rules that ensure safety for all visitors.

“There is about 15 cm of snow, but we still do not have the conditions to open the ski resort,” Tomić noted. According to him, they have prepared procedures taking the epidemiological situation into account.
