Since July 15 of last year, when the deadline for submitting applications for the legalization of real estate objects expired, approval has been granted to owners of only 643 properties (1.2%). Requests are reviewed at the local level. Legalization was denied for about 3,800 properties due to their non-compliance with territorial plans and unresolved land issues. The authors of 24,000 applications submitted incomplete project documentation. All requests were processed in Kotor, Kolašin, Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje and Petnjica, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro said. Legalization has brought in 1.14 million euros. The leaders in fee collection are Bijelo Polje, Budva, Nikšić and Tivat. After the legalization deadline, around 2,400 more applications were submitted. They must be rejected by local authorities, the ministry emphasized. It is possible that the authorities will provide another opportunity to legalize their real estate. The decision will be made next year.
