The Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare (IFSS) announced, that one of the leading experts in the blockchain industry, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, has received Montenegrin citizenship.
“Buterin received Montenegrin citizenship by naturalization on the proposal of Montenegro’s Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić and after the initiative of Minister of Finance and Social Welfare Milojko Spajić and the opinion of this department. Recognizing the importance of this initiative, the Minister of the Interior (MIA) Sergej Sekulović made the decision to admit Vitalik Buterin to Montenegrin citizenship on the proposal of the Prime Minister, and today he was handed a Montenegrin passport,” the IFSS said in a statement.
This government department said that “a group of world experts in this field visited Montenegro at the invitation of Minister Spajić, and cooperation with them is of particular importance for promoting the development of Montenegro’s economy, attracting investment, and creating highly paid jobs in this industry.” It added that Buterin’s citizenship was granted in accordance with Article 12 of the Montenegro Citizenship Act.

“Vitalik Buterin, as the most recognizable name in this industry and the founder of Ethereum, will further promote Montenegro and the overall development of the crypto industry in our country.
