New taxi service prices will come into effect as early as next year. It is expected that the starting fare will range from 0.50 to 1 euro. “The decision on taxi services provides that entrepreneurs and legal entities must submit a new price list to the Ministry of Transport within 6 months,” said Lazarela Kalezic, Minister of Transport. In addition, it is expected that the program for organizing taxi rides in the territory of Podgorica will be checked by the mayor, Ivan Vukovic. At the moment, 966 taxi vehicles are registered in Podgorica. “For Podgorica, this is a lot. The capital must find a model to reduce the number of vehicles. Taxi drivers who decide to leave, or those who retire, should not transfer their licenses to anyone else. It is difficult to say what the optimal number of taxi vehicles will be. In any case, they should be an alternative to public transport,” Kalezic stated.
