According to the Central Bank, there are 63 millionaires in Montenegro — citizens with millions of euros or more in bank accounts.

“The number of citizens with deposits of EUR 1 million or more is 3% higher than in February 2020,” the data show.

And although the number of millionaires is higher, the highest individual deposit has fallen by EUR 900,000 compared with the end of April. At that time, it amounted to EUR 10.6 million. The highest deposit held by an individual now stands at EUR 9.7 million. This person is a non-resident, the CB said.

According to the latest data, eight citizens have deposits exceeding EUR 3 million. Two individuals have deposits of more than EUR 5 million. However, no one has a deposit above EUR 10 million. At the end of last year, the highest deposit amounted to EUR 17.9 million.

At the beginning of 2018, there were 64 millionaires, and in October 2017 there were 48 millionaires. At the beginning of 2017, 54 millionaires were registered. As of the end of 2016, there were 54 millionaires.

The latest data show that total deposits in July amounted to EUR 3.3 billion, which means a slight increase month on month and a 3.4% decrease year on year. Demand deposits accounted for 69.5%, and time deposits for 30.2% of total deposits.
