The Social Democrats (SD) deputies have submitted to parliament a draft law amending the Law on Social and Child Protection, which provides for an increase in the child allowance from 35% to 60%.
“The proposed change will allow a monthly child allowance to be paid to a child: a beneficiary of material support — instead of the current 23.68 euros — 37.68 euros. Care and assistance allowance — 45.87 euros instead of the current 31.87 euros, personal disability allowance — 53.57 euros instead of the current 39.57 euros, and for a child without parental care — 53.57 euros instead of the current 39.57 euros,” said SD deputy in the Parliament of Montenegro Boris Mugoša.
He reminds that in Montenegro about 14,000 children receive child allowance every month.
He also added that the implementation of this law requires additional funds in the budget in the amount of about 2.5 million euros per year. Whereas in 2020, a total of more than 4.5 million euros was paid out on the basis of child allowance.
The draft law also sets the start of its implementation from April 1, 2021 due to the ongoing temporary financing.
