On Thursday, the European Union provided Bosnia and Herzegovina with additional grants worth 15 million euros. The money will go toward building a motorway on the section connecting Budapest and Ploče. The agreement on the implementation of these funds was signed in Sarajevo by BiH Finance Minister Vjekoslav Bevanda and the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development office, Jan Brown. The 15 million euros will be spent on constructing a kilometer of motorway in the vicinity of Doboj, which includes two interchanges. Bosnia and Herzegovina has been building the motorway for more than 20 years. To date, 130 kilometers of modern roads have been built. According to the latest estimates by the EU delegation, all 330 kilometers of the highway passing through BiH should be completed by the end of 2030. Thus, the total cost of this infrastructure project is about 4 billion euros. It is mainly secured through various loan agreements. Meanwhile, 1 billion euros consists of grants from European funds, supplemented by commercial loans.
